Dear Parents,

Third grade at Westside Christian School is filled with a variety of opportunities for students to expand their sense of personal responsibility and teamwork. Projects that help the students increase their reading skills, reading comprehension, verbal expression and written expression are all developed to help children express, in positive ways, their understanding of the world around them. Lessons that develop an understanding and sense of time are completed both individually and within small groups in the disciplines of history and science. Verbal presentations as well as written projects are used to assist individual children and teams to effectively communicate what they have learned.

In language arts, interesting stories are read, discussed and expressed through a variety of mediums. Arts, crafts, music and writing are used for this purpose.

Math skills covered range from addition and subtraction to multiplication, division, word problems and basic algebraic equations.

Bible lessons that are read may be acted out, drawn in sequence or expressed in music. An effort is made to help students apply solid Biblical principles to everyday life.

Many of the skills worked on in 3rd grade are supported through a variety of hands-on activities and competitive team efforts.

Commendable work is displayed in the classroom for others to see and all the students receive positive encouragement to do their best.

Social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills developed are all encouraged with the goal to develop positive self-directed, and self-confident studentts who will learn early to do their best for the Lord.

We look forward to meeting you and your student.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Carla Cramer
